What a brilliant week we’ve had last week!! 🌟 Our What a brilliant week we’ve had last week!! 🌟

Our Parent Club Falkirk enjoyed a great session of badminton at Polmont Sports Centre 🏸
It was lovely being somewhere different, and the centre itself is fantastic – community-run and welcoming.

Then on Thursday, Parent Club Stirling took part in a Climate Change Consultation 🌍
It was so interesting and informative – we learned so much (and realised how much we already knew too!).
Great discussions, shared ideas, a free lunch, and a Β£35 voucher for every participant – definitely a win win! πŸ™Œ

Thanks to everyone who took part πŸ’™

Didn’t realise just how competitive everyone could be β€” made it even funnier and more enjoyable! We all thoroughly loved it and will definitely be doing it again soon. Hope to see even more of you there next time!

Playing badminton can greatly support mental health and reduce isolation. The physical activity helps lower stress and anxiety, boost mood, and improve focus. Playing regularly builds confidence and provides structure and routine.

Badminton is also social without being overwhelming. It encourages interaction, helps people feel connected, and reduces loneliness in a relaxed, low-pressure environment. Suitable for all ages and abilities, it’s an enjoyable way to stay active while improving both mental wellbeing and social connection.

πŸŽ‰ Happy New Year! 🎊 β€œLang may yer lum reek!” As πŸŽ‰ Happy New Year! 🎊

β€œLang may yer lum reek!”

As we step into the New Year, here’s a traditional Scottish wish for warmth, comfort, and good fortune. β€œLang may yer lum reek” literally means β€œlong may your chimney smoke”—a heartfelt hope that your home stays warm, your fire keeps burning, and there’s always enough to keep you comfortable and well.

What does it mean?

In Scotland, a smoking chimney was a sign of life, hospitality, and prosperity. If the fire was lit, it meant the household was fed, warm, and thriving. Wishing someone that their lum (chimney) continues to reek (smoke) was a way of saying:
May you never go cold, hungry, or without shelter.

Why it’s perfect for the New Year

At New Yearβ€”especially around Hogmanayβ€”this saying reflects timeless hopes we still share today:

πŸ›‘οΈ warmth and security

πŸ’ͺ🏽 steady wellbeing

β™₯️ a home filled with life and laughter

So as the year turns, here’s wishing you comfort through the cold days, light through the dark ones, and prosperity all year long.

Lang may yer lum reek β€” and Happy New Year! ✨
